Loki looked at the food that was in front of him. It was nice that there was a place in town that had fairly true Japanese food. It nearly made him feel homesick, but then again, the only person that he missed was his mother. He didn't miss his school, or the other Japanese students. He just missed the culture. The differences were so large! Everything was different, the food, the schools, the people, the tolerances. He enjoyed the freedom that it brought, but it was still odd, after having just returned from Japan.
He had ordered Shabu-Shabu, a nabe dish (a type of dish that is prepared in a hot pot at the table) prepared with various fish cakes, daikon, boiled eggs, konyaku and kombu seaweed, boiled over many hours in a soya sauce based soup. It wasn't as good as what his mother made, but for an American restaurant it was very good. He put a peice of kombu seaweed in his mouth savouring the flavour.
Loki had only found out about this place at the end of last year, and as such hadn't been here before. He hadn't known what to expect. But the place was meeting his expectations for it. He'd made it last year, but knew that this year he would probably be spending more money on food. His tou-san had tried to make him feel welcomed, but it tended to be awkward when you hadn't known the person for the first seventeen years of your life. And, Loki actually only saw tou-san on the rare weekend, as tou-san was always moving about due to where the next scene in his movie would be.
The Japanese boy had just put down his utensil and was reaching for his cup of tea, when someone knocked into him, causing him to nearly spill his tea. Loki's eyes narrowed, "Oi! Baku! Watch where you're going." In his anger, he'd momentarily switched to japanese.

Jack was having a good week. Yes, this was the best week before school he had ever had. He had just nabbed a woman he actually wanted, he had a more awesome car than Rob, and he had seen and bragged to most of his awesome friends. Except one: Loki. Apparently he was here, wandering around New York. But of course, due to the size of this city, it was nearly impossible to find him. He wanted to talk to his Japenese friend. He missed him and his cooky sense of humor. The man could walk into any awkward situation and think it was the most normal thing on the planet. Jack thought it was awesome.
He had searched nearly the entire city for Loki. Every single place that he could think of, Jack had searched for his Japenese friend. How could a man with such radical hair be do hard to find? He had only one place on his list of "Loki-Findables" before he went home to his Sevvi. And that was Minado. He walked into the joint, and threw a hundred at the man at the door so that he could just do as he pleased. He knew him from last year anyway. The man at the door just waved him through, despite many protests from the line at the door.
Scanning the room for his radically haired friend, he spotted tufts of hair he knew. He stalked up behind him, glad he finally found Loki in this god-forsaken city. He had nearly reached him when the woman right behind Loki's seat stood up, and spinned right into Jack, causing him to bump into Loki. Loki, in his own manner, screamed at him in Japanese. The woman rolled her eyes and went to powder her nose... or something. Jack looked at Loki, with an "SO was not my fault!" look on his face.
"Sorry..." Jack said with a grimace.

Loki shook his head Jack. Of course, it would be Jack that would bump into Loki. Though his look of anger followed the woman, not Jack. "Kisama." He shook his head at the expression on Jack's face, a small smile playing on his lips. He took a sip of his tea and shrugged at Jack's apology. It had been the woman's fault not Jack's, "Whatever." He then looked back at Jack. "Aren't you going to sit down? Or are you just going to stand there til I am done eating?" Loki was almost positive that Jack would sit, but sometimes Jack just liked being obstinate.
Jack had been one of the first persons that Loki had met. He'd been assigned to a room with three people, a room that was one shy of a full deck. Since he'd arrived halfway through the year he hadn't had much choice on where he would be living. And he was thankful about where he'd ended up. Sure, it had been a bit awkward for him at first, but they didn't care about his 'almost' bastard status, not that he had actually told them, but news had a way of getting around. But, being a foreign student as well, Loki and Jack had a thing in common that the other two in their dorm hadn't. The problems with speaking English 24/7. Thankfully Loki had already been taught English, it was just his accent and his grammar that had people giving him odd looks.
Loki took a bite of a boiled egg, then indicated another set of eating untensils, indicating that should Jack wish to have some he could. Though the two of them never truly saw eye-to-eye on foods. Finding that the others culture made some truly odd foods that the other called delicacies. Though they both enjoyed simpler food, and that they tended to not argue about. Though any food arguing was done good naturedly. Both of them agreeing that Americans were only thieves when it came to most foods, not really having any of their own, but rather food from everywhere.
He shook his head, turning amused eyes onto Jack. It wouldn't take a genius to realize that Jack had been searching for Loki. "So, what's so important that you tracked me down?"

"Kisama?" Jack asked, always bothered about the random words of Japanese. Usually when he didn't indicate what the word was after realizing he just spoke Japanese, Loki said something only entertaining to him. Jack had forgotten not to inquire. He sat down with a sigh. "You're not in a good mood are you?" Jack asked with a sigh. Actually, Loki could have been having the happiest day of his life, and this week, Jack would still think he was having a bad day. He could just never tell when Loki was in a good mood or a bad mood. It was horrible. The man could switch moods so quickly! Jack can never keep up!
Jack's attention was brought to the food when Loki indicated at the fancy chopsticks. His face crunched up as he leaned in to look at what was in the... soup? "What the hell are you eating?" Jack said with disdain, not sure he wanted to indulge in the meal that Loki was enjoying. He plucked a boiled egg and looked at it questioningly for a second before popping it in his mouth. It was a little chewy, definitly a different taste, but over all, not bad. He nodded in approval while chewing.
"OH!" Jack had almost forgot his reason for coming down here. Bragging rights. Must have the bragging rights. He sat up straight and smirked. "Guess who I got?" Loki would understand the question, depending on his mood, he would probably also roll his eyes at him. But Jack was interested in who Loki would guess. So far, only Rob hadn't guessed correctly. He had been worried he had a horrible joke played on him using Krissie as a subject. Heh, NOT.

Loki rolled his eyes. “Kisama is Bastard in Japanese, you baka.” He shrugged, “Though it wasn’t aimed at you, so don’t worry about it.” He knew that throwing in that other Japanese word wasn’t that nice, seeing as it would bother Jack even more. Though there was the possibility that Jack had finally caught onto what Baka meant. He raised both eyebrows, surprised, “What gave you idea that I wasn’t in a good mood. I’m in a good mood!” He was slightly indignant in his reply, he was rarely ever in a ‘bad mood’, but he just wasn’t always in a ‘great mood’. Or, at least, that’s how he saw things. But then again, Loki didn’t see most things the way that the others did, Japanese culture was that different.
He shook his head, at the look on Jack’s face. “This is Shabu-Shabu.” He paused, thinking, trying to figure out how to explain that in English. As to which, he couldn’t think of anyway. “There’s an explanation of it in the menu, I believe, if you want one.” He wasn’t going to fumble his way through a screwed up explanation. He got a fish cake, munching happily. He smiled, and laughed slightly, nearly choking on his food. “See Japanese food is good. You just need to accept that.” This was said good naturedly after he had stopped choking on the fish cake.
Loki smirked at Jack’s reaction to his remembering, he was always so dramatic, and then rolled his eyes. At the question, Loki put on a puzzled face, “Hm, lets see… Who did you want to get in bed and fuck. Hmm… No… not her…” He paused, widening his own eyes dramatically, “Wait could it be? That Jack has finally gotten… No. Never, impossible.” He shook his head, “No. Jack, you aren’t that good…”
He smirked, this was fun, but it was time to take Jack serious finally. “Svetlana, aka Sevvie, possibly?”

"Ah," Jack said, though a little bothered by the use of Japanese again. He knew what that last word was... sort of. He had never known exactly what it meant just that it was an insult of some sort. But it couldn't dampen his mood. He was probably going to be happy for weeks. He would imagine that everyone in his dorm would kill him in his happy-go-luckiness.
Jack shrugged. "It sounded for a sec there like you were seriously unhappy." Jack munched what he hoped was a vegetable. "I figured after you snapped at me that you were here for some sort of Japanese comfort food." He shrugged. "You can be kinda scary sometimes, I have to admit it, I mean, don't you all know how to chop wood with your hand?" Jack was bugging him, but sometimes he wondered if it was true.
Figuring he should learn what he was eating before he ate much more, Jack plucked up the menu. As he did so, Loki started to choke, probably because of eating and talking at the same time, and Jack made ready to punch him in the back. Loki seemingly swallowed before he even had to smack his back. He found Shabu-Shabu in a couple seconds. It was one of the only dishes with a double name. Reading the description he started to twitch. He looked to the Shabu-Shabu, and pointed at it accusingly with his chop-sticks. "Impostor!" he accused the dish.
Jack nibbled on an egg while Loki apparently tried to figure out who exactly it was he had just spent half the weekend with. When he meantioned Jack not being that good, Jack scowled. He hated it when they said that. It only made him want to prove them wrong, which he usually did anyway. Loki's face shifted into a smirk, and, as Jack figured, Loki guessed correctly. He put his hands up, not really caring that he was in a five star resturant. "Victorius!" he brought them down quickly, "As usual." A grin crossed his face.

The Japanese student was a bit worried how after the use of another Japanese word Jack only said ‘Ah’. That rarely happened, only when Jack was in a really good mood, or was too pissed off to even want to comment. But going from the conversation that they’d had so far, Loki was going to have to say that Jack was in a really good mood, which also slightly worried Loki. What had happened that had Jack in such a mood.
Loki grinned, “Ah, but not everything is how it appears Jack,. You should know that.” Loki shrugged, “Iie. This is my first time here. I only learned about it last year right before I returned to Japan, so I came to see if it was worth my time.” He laughed, “Of course. I could chop wood when I was two. It the brick that takes time to break.” He resisted rolling his eyes. What was it with Caucasians? They all seemed to think that all people of Asian decent knew how to do karate, judo, or whatever was taught in their region. And, while, yes, Loki did know some it wasn’t as though he’d devoted his entire life to it.
Loki watched, a bit amused, as Jack actually picked up the menu to see what he was eating. He wondered if Jack would be disgusted or intrigued in what he was eating. The odds were against intrigued. Jack wasn’t always the most willing to experiment when it came to Japanese foods. Half the time, when he found out what he was eating he stopped, even if he had been enjoying it before he’d learned. He gave Jack an odd look, wishing that Jack would now lower his volume. “How is this an imposter? Its been around in Japan for ages.” He shook his head, his voice incredulous.
He smirked at the look on Jack’s face, as Loki had gone through his little spiel. Jack was just so easy to bug sometimes. Even when things were unintentional Jack was a fairly easy person to bug. Loki put his hand on his face at Jack’s cry. This was one of the things that he didn’t like about Jack. Jack seemed to have no sense of embarrassment, which meant that Loki was left to deal with hi dislike of that type of attention, as Jack went on.
”You know… it wasn’t that hard to figure out. Its you. Who have you been craving basically since I met you?” It was true. Jack had fixated on Sevvie, but to try and get over it, he’d gotten involved with tons of other girls, including Erika. That nut. Hopefully with Jack having gotten Sevvie, she’d leave Jack (and the rest of the guys – including Loki) alone.

"So..." Jack questioned, "Not comfort food. Gotcha." Jack stared at the food in front of him, and then asked tentativly, "So is it any good? Or should I be spitting it out at some point here?" His chopsticks hovered almost metaphorically over the food.
Jack's eyes narrowed and he lifted an eyebrow, knowing the second Loki said that he could shop wood when he was two that he was joking with him. It's just Jack had always been taught that the Japanese had to learn some basic forms of Marital Arts in thier P.E. classes. He could be wrong though, so what came out of his mouth was basically the french version of "harde-har-har."
He pointed at the menu with his chopsticks, again in a accusing manner. "They describe it as fondue! FONDUE!" Jack pointd at himself. "I am French. We xreated fondue!" The he pointed back at the dish. "I don't know of any accurate description of fondue that would also describe that. IMPOSTER! It's more of a soup." Jack flung another egg in his mouth, as if to finalize his point.
Jack shrugged. "Well, you are also more attentive than most of the people I know." He grinned, "Also, Rob failed horribly. He thought I stole Kristen fro him." He shook his head. "Honestly people, I'm NOT Edward!"

GrAb YoUr HaT AnD fEtCh A cAmErA ! [X] [X] My outfit and hair Ashling giggled high pitched as she hung up her green Rumor cellphone. Babs was so funny when she wanted to be and knew how to tickle her friend's funny bone. Opening the door to the Sushi Bar, she let her liquid topaz eyes wonder. The only others she saw were a couple boys that looked about her age. She only gazed at them for a minute before, eyeing a booth in the corner. She smiled and walked over to it and sat down. She wasn't really sure but she heard the California wrap was good.
She ordered that and took a sip of her Green Tea. Her legs were crossed under the table and was tapping a little as she waited. Today she wasn't feeling like being all that hyper and social. Her attire was that of a black off the shoulder t-shirt with a black tight mini-skirt to match. Her legs were covered with black fishnets and the only color on her was a pair of hotpink open toed high heel pumps. Her hair was vibrantly red and her side bangs hung in her golden eyes. She wore black eyeliner, black mascara covering her thick lashes, and hotpink eyeshadow. She rubbed her glossy lips together and tapped her french manicured fingernails on the table before her wrap came. Looking up she smiled at the waiter and took a bite of it. It was good. A loud outburst of Human by the Killers broke through as she replied "Fuck" under her breath as she grabbed her phone and texted Babs.

Loki nodded, “Yes. Not comfort food.” Loki gave Jack a ‘duh’ stare. “If it wasn’t any good, do you think that I would be eating it?? Of course it’s good!” As if to demonstrate, he took another bite of his fish cake. Really though, Loki wasn’t going to censor all of his food to what Jack actually liked! That would just be ridiculous, and Loki wouldn’t actually get much to eat himself.
Loki shook his head as Jack made his slightly sarcastic French noise, “What? How you know its not true? I could have started learning early!” He grinned. “However, that’s not true. But I do know martial arts. You just have to wait to see how much I know.” It was always fun to do this to Jack, but only so far, otherwise Jack just made an arse of himself. So usually Loki stopped before that happened, as he didn’t actually enjoy that.
He shook his head, “No. You just created the word Fondue – or whatever it is - Jack.” He gave Jack an odd look, “No. We have soups, and they aren’t like this. But then again, no mere French word is good enough to describe Japanese cuisine.” He had grinned as he’d said that last line to show that it had been said in jest. Well, at least, it had partly been said in jest….
He chuckled, “Rob thinks everyone out to get Kristen. He sees someone talking to her and he thinks that they’re trying to steal her from him.” Ok, so that might have been an exaggeration, but if felt like that sometimes. He paused, “Are you sure… I mean, you almost look like an Edward.” He wasn’t specifying their Edward just an Edward.
Loki watched from where he was sitting as a girl with blood red hair and a slightly see-through t-shirt and mini skirt. She sat in a booth that wasn’t that far away from them. She looked familiar, but then again, that could just mean that she went to their school. Loki wasn’t the best with names, especially ones that he’d only heard in passing.

Jack frowned. "Well really, it's a whole bunch of American people cooking your native food." He raised his eyebrows. "You could have been eating it to be polite. And how am I supposed to know the difference between good Japanese food or not? I'm French!"
"Just as long as I learn it when I am not your victim I will be happy." He didn't want to know how much Loki knew. It would be hard enough watching him fight someone else without thinking the whole time "if he ever comes at me I'm screwed".
Jack still was not moved. It was more what Fondue was then the word. "Fondue means "melted". Fondue is when you melt things such as cheese and chocolate over a flame, and dip things such as fruit and bread in it." He pointed at the dish in front of them. "Do you not think it is an inaccurate description of the dish?"
Jack frowned. "I do not look like an Edward! Ed looks like an Edward. And he is out to get Kristen. I am not." Jack grinned,"Though it is rather fun driving Rob mad." Jack had enjoyed doing it many a time, though for some odd reason people have been stating to think he likes Kristen. Sure, he thought she was pretty and all, but he wasn't sure he could like a woman who got angry at him all the time.
His ears perked u at a sound behind him. "Did I just hear someone order something American in a Japanese five-star resturant?" He looked at Loki, who seemed to be looking at someone to his left, he looked over to see... Ashley? Or something similar to that name? "Or did you just Americanize the names of some of your more popular food?"

GrAb YoUr HaT AnD fEtCh A cAmErA ! [X] [X] Ashling sighed heavily as she took another sip of her green tea. She finished up her wrap and put her elbow on the table as she rested her head on the hand. Turning off her cellphone, she heard mumbling and arched an eyebrow. Putting her cellphone down she turned a little to see the two guys talking and caught a glimpse of one looking at her quickly. Great.. she thought to herself and turned back around. She was not in the mood to have people talk about he, but she didn't know if they were or not. Hopefully they weren't.
She took another sip of her tea and tapped her fingernails on the table. Bobbing her foot up and down she kept her head on her hand. She turned around again to see another one glimpse at her. Lifting her hand she waved to them lightly before turning back around. Finishing her green tea, she ordered another one. Waiting for that to come back to her she turned on her cell and waited for it to beep because she knew Babs would call her soon. She always did.
